The time has come. Today is Wednesday evening and I am lying on my bed in the car. And this is the third night in a row, I actually moved in there. Although I have to share the very cramped place with my bike at the moment, but in the not too distant future I will probably buy a bicycle carrier, because getting the bike out of the trunk every time and connecting it outside to have space inside is also not the real one. Bad enough that I'm driving at all and not by bike. The roads and the weather right now just don't allow it.
Since I am just standing on a place again on which I have no net, (actually I had until a big camper had put in between), I will probably go to sleep early. Maybe I will be able to take photos of the sunrise.
After these three days I now realize that I have to write here again much more often, now I can only give an all-round envelope and it will still be a novel. I could start with the fact that all beginnings are difficult. Especially that of a nomadic life. At first I had thought about what I needed, but due to the rather sudden departure I still have far too much food. This is not a problem with cans and bags, but my ham and cheese stock was just freshly replenished. Impractical. For this I miss the bread (or similar), also unfavorable.
My bed construction proves to some extent. I have learned by now that a normal isomat between the wood and the foam I used would not have been bad, but I can't change that without much effort. Why the isimatte? On the one hand to make these few millimeters more comfortable, on the other hand actually as insulation. With the sleeping bag it is quite fine from below, but actually it is better with the ceiling up here. I can use the storage space inside the bed more than well. In one compartment is my wardrobe, in the next my bike stuff. So packing bags helmet, shoes and co. A compartment further then my camping equipment with tent, isomat and sleeping bag, as well as everything possible for the bathroom and some electronics. The last two compartments are confiscated from food and kitchen utensils. Just a small shortcoming has the whole thing, to sleep on top is not much space until the ceiling comes. It's just a small station wagon, not a spacious van.
For a few days or weeks I have been the owner of a small cooker. So so minismall in backpack or bike size. It's also used pretty well at the moment. But I miss something of the blue "selfcontained" badge. Sounds strange with such a station wagon, I know. But I seriously consider working on them. But I definitely have to have a bike carrier first.
So much I didn't really want to talk about my car, but rather about my adventures. Well, it kind of belongs to it. And since I only left the day before yesterday and yesterday the day went through whangarei, actually only today remains. I left my parking lot on the beach at tutukaka. Since the coastal section there is a cul-de-sac, it is once again in the direction of whangarei. Since I was already as good as there I made a little sway to the waterfall, which is however quite unsuitable for photos because the exposure is always bad. Especially when the sun was shining. After that, I went to mount mania. It is located in whangarei heads, almost 20km east of the city. Was quite nice up there, just pretty windy. To sleep I now stand in the parking lot at Ocean beach. No idea why I like the beach here so much. Unfortunately it rained again and again (even on the way up the mountain) and became windier again below. The beach walk much unfortunately accordingly short. Hopefully tomorrow the sun will shine as announced.
Otherwise, I get really tired by now. See you.
