14th. August, insomnia…?
London – Bishop’s Stortdfort
96.7 km
… By the way! We slept with a super cool older gentleman who was about to pour his flowers in a field with toilet!
But from the front. In the morning we are off to the Thames with some chaos in the hostel quite early. There we are supposed to pass through the tunnel, like the old Elbe tunnel in Hamburg. But apparently they have not only the optics, but also the quirks together… The elevator is broken. And the next way for us to get to the other shore is Towerbridge. So into the city with the wheels! And especially after that. But when we have our bike path again, the path becomes quite nice. Not that it would be uninteresting to use the cycle highways in London, but the canals in the north of the city populated by people thinking about houseboats are simply better. And the track is beautifully flat after the hills of the last days.
At least until it eventually passes into more rural areas with many fields. Actually, I had planned to pitch the tent there at some point, but this idea doesn’t go down very well. So we invite you to Bishop’s Stortdfort, where we suspect a campsite. But it’s not there. So Hannah finds this man pouring flowers and just asks. Hit! Not only does he have a garden to offer, but also a whole field of lawn behind his building yard, including a toilet. Here you can sleep well. Despite the airport nearby. It’s a bit like home at most.
