17th. August, Butterflies. And nettles…
Holbeach – Lincoln
92.6 km
Today there is no picture, the battery is precious. Because we found a host for the evening in Lincoln, the Navi has to work. For the day, that means having to turn around from time to time to see if there’s a bike path somewhere, because the path looks strange and I can’t see on my phone if we’re right.
Now to the butterflies. And the nettles. They were found on a small road next to the main road somewhere in the middle of nowhere. I think just before Boston. Butterflies are many on this day, mostly in flower beds on the roadside. But they sit in large groups along this small path, in the middle of the nettles. And since the path is so narrow, we have to go through with our shorts in the middle. My scrape on one side doesn’t hurt any more, the nettles come to the other side. Well, the pain quickly subsides.
Otherwise, the path runs mainly along the canal. For once, nothing that can be called hill or mountain with the heavy wheels. It’s just flat. Unfortunately windy.
From Antoine, our host, whom we found through couchsurfing, we know that he is only home from six. We’re getting ahead well, but the breaks are piling up towards the end.
Once he has arrived, there is a bit of custom-made with the bikes. He wants to put them in the apartment for safety. Quickly dressed up as normal, then we get a small tour of the city to cook SpƤtzle together in the evening. After a long day we fall into the sleeping bags.
