Amsterdam – Lintorf

• 40 km

This post will now be a little journey back in time. He has fallen by the wayside so far…

Very early in the morning our alarm clocks ring. It is said that the sun is shining and we want to watch the sunrise. Stupid, because above the ship there is blue sky, but not so much that it reaches to the east towards the sun.

We still pack our things quickly and lay down an hour. Just in time for the announcement (who can and may get to his vehicle like and where) we are packed with our bags in the crowded aisle, so that we understand almost nothing of the announcement. Somehow we make it to the bottom deck. We just have to meander through the densely parked trucks, so that we can't get to our bikes anyway, because they are parked.

About 20 minutes later we finally drive out of the harbour area and arrive at our first roundabout. It's funny to drive around on the right again. We can still get in quickly. Quite unlike the English before us, who give their typical English hand signals. A moment to smile after a night too short.

With tailwinds we are pushed as far as Amsterdam. There is an unpleasant surprise: we have to buy different tickets for the train in advance, because construction is underway on the route. In the travel centre of the Dutch railways, the only information we can be told is that we would be travelling illegally – black. Great view for the ride home. Nevertheless, after a lunch snack, we board the train for good luck. The first check is (after a few more incidents due to broken elevators) on German soil and the inspector does not take anything out of our tickets. The main thing is we have some. In Düsseldorf we catch once again a bad-tempered employee, who is very uninterested in the whole affair. When we finally go home the last meters, we are fixed and ready. We'll
make an appointment for the week after. Hannah and I host an evening where we cook typical English dishes we ate on the way for our families and friends and show them our film about the journey. It was a fun evening.
