10. August, the adventure begins
Let’s start at the end – or in this case the here and now: we are in Margate, on the North Sea coast of England and have the first (half) day on the bike behind us.
Home – Dunkirk – Margate
Nearly 40 km
It is now too late for a detailed report, so there is only a brief summary:
– The weather: It rains. Who would have thought that? We don’t seem to be, because we manage to be completely soaked on the first day. For this we are rewarded in the evening with a beautiful sunset.
-The tour: Tonight we learned that there are no mountains here. If we had been told that while we were going to start…
-And the most important thing: the people here. This night we find shelter with a nice woman about couchsurfing.
Update
Caron, with which we are allowed to sleep, takes us to a pub for a comedy evening, wet as we are and the luggage quickly stacked in the hallway. irrelevant. Some of that night was really funny, others still hard for us to understand or actually not funny. Afterwards there were our first fish and chips, respectively. only chips, because everything else would have been too complicated for us. Once back home and finally slipped into dry and warm clothes, we were able to make Caron a little jealous of our adventure. She offers us to ask her friends in our next destination for a possible place to stay for us. An offer that could not be knocked off after this rainy day.
